The Alkaline Lifestyle

As we’ve already established, the overall functioning systems of your body can be either acidic or alkaline (or neutral)? It’s true. The foods we eat, and moreover the water we drink, will push our systems to be more acidic and/or more alkaline. The alkaline to acidic ratio of your body impacts the processes of many body functions from your nervous and respiratory system, as well as your sexual functioning and reproductive abilities.

There’s a chemical reaction that occurs in your body every time you take a bite. The foods you consume become acid-producing or alkaline-producing in your system. The majority of Americans eat a largely acidic diet. But research reveals that we should eat a diet has a ratio of about 75% alkaline and 25% acidic.

Consider this. A high level of acidosis within the body can bring about the following:Cardiovascular illness, weight increase, obesity, diabetes, bladder infection, chronic kidney stones, immune system failure, damage from free radicals, hormonal imbalances, premature aging, joint pain and osteoporosis from aching muscles, chronic fatigue, low energy levels, slow digestion, constipation, yeast infections, low body temperature, infectious tendencies, depression, stress manifestation, sallow skin, chronic headaches, corneal inflammation, gingivitis, stomach ulcers, dry lips and mouth, sour stomach, weak fingernails, dry skin, and leg projects.

This list is just to name a few of the many problems that can be caused by acidosis within the human body. And it stands to reason that when your body is in balance, you’re better equipped to burn off excess fat.

The best way to alkalize the body is the regular intake of alkaline water. You’re probably asking yourself, “So if I’m drinking all this alkaline water, isn’t it possible to become too alkaline?”
Well, the short answer is “yes,” BUT (notice the “but”) not only are the detriments far less (meaning being too acidic is worse for you than being too alkaline), it’s almost impossible to become too alkaline. The foods that will alkalize our systems are loaded with fiber, and a variety of other vitamins and minerals that our bodies will use continually. These foods are also packed with naturally alkaline water. Your body will use the nutrients and water rapidly as fuel and the rest of your calorie burn will come from fat stores. Consider this, if you ate a salad for lunch, which is alkalizing, the salad will push through your system at a much faster rate than will the ribeye you had for dinner. The meat will remain in your system longer as its digestion is more complex. Therefore, the detriments the steak will place on your bodily systems will be lingering. Not only that, unless you’re doing something to combat the acidosis of your body, the environment in which we live will push you toward that end of the pH scaled as well. Simply being alive will cause your system to develop acidic tendencies.
